Rensselaer Rejects 2026-2027 League Details
GAMES
- The season will begin on 9/27/26 and conclude on 4/25/27.
- Each team will play 19 guaranteed games – 16 Regular Season & 3 Playoff Games. Please refer to the “PLAYOFFS” section for additional details.
- All games will be hosted at The Knickerbacker on Sundays.
- Ice Times: Slot 1 – 7:00-8:30pm / Slot 2 – 8:45-10:15pm
- Each Game will be (3) 25-minute periods (running clock). Games will include a warm-up (approximately 3-5 minutes) and brief intermission (1-2 minutes) between periods.
- The schedule will be accessible through www.RejectsHockey.com once completed.
- Each game will be scheduled for (2) Referees. If the CDIHOA is unable to allocate (2) Referees, (1) may be used.
- USA Hockey rules for the adult category will be used for all league play.
TEAMS
- The League will feature 5 teams.
- Teams will be assembled through a draft lottery. Players will be assigned a “Skill Ranking” (Scale of 5 – 10) prior to the draft and organized into player pools based on their ranking and desired position.
- The number of players on each team will not exceed 15 skaters.
- Goaltenders will rotate between teams each game and be assigned a schedule for each game assignment.
- Following league draft, teams will be assigned (2) co-captains. Co-captains will be responsible for tracking attendance and coordinating with league organizers for substitute players when required.
League Draft
- The League draft will be hosted on 8/29/2026 at the Hockey Hut.
- Additional details regarding the draft will be released prior to the draft.
STATS
- The following stats will be recorded:
- Skater: Goals, Primary Assists, Games Played
- Each player will be limited to scoring (3) goals per game. Once the (3) goal threshold is met, any additional goal scored by the same player will be disallowed. This rule serves to promote further development of players and ensure a balanced competitive atmosphere.
- Goaltender: Wins, Losses, GAA (Goals Against Average)
- Team: Wins, Losses, Ties, Goals For, Goals Against
- Skater: Goals, Primary Assists, Games Played
- Stats will be updated periodically and viewable at www.RejectsHockey.com
SUBS
- Subs will be utilized only in circumstances when a team has less than (10) skaters.
- League organizers will coordinate with team captains for the assignment of sub-players. Team captains will be responsible for gauging player attendance for each game.
- No sub players will be utilized for the playoffs regardless of attendance numbers. This rule will not apply in the “Friendship Series”.
PLAYOFFS
- PLAYOFF SEEDING
- SEED #1 – FIRST PLACE REGULAR SEASON
- SEED #2 – SECOND PLACE REGULAR SEASON
- SEED #3 – THIRD PLACE REGULAR SEASON
- SEED #4 – FOURTH PLACE REGULAR SEASON
- SEED #5 – FIFTH PLACE REGULAR SEASON
- Goaltenders will be assigned to each team through a lottery with odds based on each goalie’s regular season wins. Teams will be assigned a goalie in the order of the completed regular season standings (1ST-5TH).
- Each matchup will be a “Best of (3) Games” Series. Please note, a 3rd game will be played in all matchups even if a winner has already been determined following game two.
- All playoff games will have a “stopped clock” in the final (5) minutes of play if the score differential is (3) or fewer goals. The clock will revert to running time in any event that the score differential is (4) or more goals. This rule will not apply in the “Friendship Series”.
- The Rejects Cup will be awarded to the winning team in the Finals.
PLAYOFF FORMAT
- ROUND 1 – PLAY-IN SERIES
- SEED #4 vs SEED #5
- The winner advances to the semifinals against SEED #1
- The loser is eliminated from the playoffs
- ROUND 2 – SEMIFINALS
- Semifinal A: SEED #1 vs Winner of SEED #4 vs SEED #5
- Semifinal B: SEED #2 vs SEED #3
- The winners advance to the Rejects Cup Finals. The losers will play in the Friendship Series
- ROUND 3 – FINALS & FRIENDSHIP SERIES
- FINALS: Winner of Semifinal A vs Winner of Semifinal B
- FRIENDSHIP SERIES: Loser of Semifinal A vs Loser of Semifinal B
